Hi! I'm Jennifer Mistmorgan.
By day, I’m Jen Richards, an Australian copywriter and food writer. But by night, I write courageous romance set against the backdrop of the Second World War under my nom de plume.
My debut novel Heart in the Clouds releases in September 2023.
My stories are infused with hard-core historical details, Christian faith and foodish flair. Here are a few other things you should know about me.
I geek out about WWII
I love 20th Century history, especially the period around WWII. It has every element a storyteller needs to tell a cracker of a tale! Heroes and villains on a grand scale. Courage, cowardice and moral compromises. Global locations. Smashing of comfort zones. Strong, independent women. Men in uniform…The list goes on. So that’s where I set my books!
I write 'kissing books'
I love old stories told in new ways. I think that’s why I love romance. After all, boy meets girl is one of the oldest stories in the book! So I write closed-door romance, which means no on-page sex but LOADS of chemistry and romantic tension and a few passionate, toe-curling kisses!
I love food
Eating it, cooking it, experimenting with it. When I’m not dreaming up love stories, you can find me in the kitchen developing recipes for my other projects or cooking for my family and friends. I love interpreting history through food (check out my Foodish History blog posts), cooking with no-longer-fashionable ingredients and working out old recipes. Oh, and eating noodles…probably too many of them.
I'm Australian
I’m a Sydneysider at heart, but I now call Canberra home with my husband, three kids, wonky-eared West Highland White Terrier and the loudest budgerigar on the planet.
